Executive Director Position Summary
Reports to: LoveWay Board of Directors
Job Summary: Responsible for the overall planning and operation of the organization, in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization. Provides leadership, direction and support to the board of directors in developing organizational goals, attaining/allocating resources, and establishing policies.
Major Job Responsibilities:
- Facilitates the board in establishing goals and developing policies, procedures, budgets and programs that fulfill the mission of the organization.
- Provides leadership to the organization staff through the establishment of goals, objectives and procedures; develops administrative and operational standards by which goals will be met.
- Directs the financial operations of the agency; prepares and monitors annual budget; reviews and approves all expenditures; ensures financial reports and audits are conducted in accordance with applicable laws. Assures that the organization is in compliance with all regulatory agencies.
- Directs staffing activities of the organization, including recruiting, selecting, training, supervising and evaluation of both paid and volunteer staff.
- Monitors and approves the organization's program services and assures achievement of its mission and goals.
- Promotes the center to individuals, groups, other service organizations and the local community. Will work to know the community and be involved as a representative of the agency.
- Working with the board, will participate in the planning, developing and implementation of all fundraising events for the agency.
- Working with the board, will help recruit, orientate and engage new board members to the organization as needed.
- Will work with board to develop a diverse income stream that may include, annual campaigns, special events, government funding, United Way funding, grants and endowments.
- Work with the board to develop and implement a strategic plan that will become the chart of works for the organization.
Additional Responsibilities:
May be assigned to other projects as needed by the board.
Relationships:
Internal: Maintains contact with children, parents, staff, board and volunteers.
External: Maintains contact with community, donors, schools and others as required.
Skills/Knowledge:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or University preferred.
- A minimum of three years experience working for a non-profit.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, direct, plan, supervise and coordinate operations.
- Strong communications skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the board, staff, community and other related agencies.
- Basic understanding of asset management including financial resources.
