Schools

Daytime classes for Special Education students from local schools participate during the school year. Schools include REACH PreSchool of Goshen, Mary Feeser, Mary Beck, Bristol, Eastwood, Riverview, Woodland, Concord South, Orchard View, Hawthorne, Prairieview, and Roosevelt. Classes typically last from sixty to ninety minutes. LoveWay's program activities help meet the goals of each student's Individual Education Plan (IEP).

Classes may include video instruction, hands on grooming and tacking activities in the barn, therepeutic riding in the arena or sensory experiences on wooded trails.

Enrollment for Therapeutic Riding Classes

Evening and Saturday morning small group classes are held for other individuals wishing to participate in therapeutic horseback riding. Two classes are held each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday evenings, and Saturday mornings. Minimum age for enrollment is four. Participants are grouped according to age and ability levels. While the student learns basic riding skills, the horse is led by one person and two others walk beside the rider for safety and stability. Some students will eventually ride independently, unaided by side walkers or leaders.

Riding and vaulting students may learn parts of the horse and tack, identify grooming tools and their use, sequencing, and the proper procedure for grooming and tacking. Some students will assist with cleaning stalls and other barn responsibilities.
