Therapeutic Riding Class Volunteers Class volunteers help students before,
during, and after their therapeutic riding lessons in barn and arena activities.
Depending on the rider's ability level they may require one, two, or three volunteers to help them.
Class volunteer tasks include helping the student put on their helmet and escorting them to the barn.
They groom and tack the horse using a sequential order along side the student in the stall.
In the arena, volunteers walk beside the rider for safety.

Most classes are held in our heated,
indoor arena (top right picture ). On nice days sessions may be held in the outdoor arena or on one of our wooded trails.
Side walking involves making sure the rider is balanced and maintains good posture as well as listens and pays attention. With horse experience, volunteers may also lead the horse while the student is riding. After the riding lesson, volunteers help the student untack their horse and put all equipment back in the tack room.
